Reading usage, sessions and signal

The telemetry Simsonic exposes, and how to debug a misbehaving device in minutes.

5 min read · Updated

Insight Tools render the exact telemetry the API exposes: live usage per subscriber and group, full session and event logs and radio quality per device, trended over time.

Debugging a quiet device

  1. Open the subscriber and check its last session: did it attach, and to which carrier and radio?
  2. Look at signal strength over time. A device that attaches then drops is usually a coverage or antenna problem, not a SIM problem.
  3. Check usage against the cap. A device that went silent may simply have hit a data cap on its group.

Pull it into your stack

bash
# fetch one subscriber, with status and data usage
curl \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer simbearer_<prefix>_<secret>" \
  -H "X-Customer-API-Key: simdev_<prefix>_<secret>" \
  "https://management.simsonic.com/developer/api/sims/123/"
# -> carrier, radio, bytes, started_at, ended_at
