Meters that last decades.

Utilities deploy millions of meters that must report reliably for 15+ years, often from basements and cabinets. simsonic is built for exactly that.

The challenge

Millions of devices, deep indoors, for decades.

Meters sit in hard-to-reach places with weak signal, cannot be visited and outlive the operator contracts and even the network generations they launched on.

“A meter installed today has to outlive the network generation it launched on.”
What simsonic does

Deep coverage, remote for life.

NB-IoT reaches deep indoors, SGP.32 eSIM lets you switch carriers over the air years later and one platform manages the whole estate.

Where it runs.

Electricity meters in cabinets

Report interval data from steel enclosures and basements where signal is weakest.

Water and gas meters in pits

Deep-indoor NB-IoT coverage for meters below ground with no mains power.

Heat networks and sub-metering

Per-dwelling consumption across new-build blocks, managed as one estate.

Regulated national rollouts

Millions of endpoints under one contract, with auditable access control.

What you get.

01

Deep-indoor reach

NB-IoT penetrates basements and cabinets where other radios fail.

02

Future-proof eSIM

SGP.32 remote provisioning means you can change carrier without touching a meter.

03

Critical-grade security

IMEI lock, allowlists and Hyper ID protect national infrastructure.

How a rollout runs.

  1. 01

    Specify SGP.32 from the start

Choose an eSIM standard built for constrained IoT so a carrier change never needs a site visit.

  2. 02

    Validate coverage per site type

Test NB-IoT reach in the actual basements, risers and cabinets before the rollout is locked.

  3. 03

    Roll out in waves

Bulk-provision by region or installer, with each batch visible as it activates.

  4. 04

    Re-profile years later

Switch carrier over the air when contracts or network generations change, across the whole estate.

Millions of meters, managed.

Provision, switch carrier and monitor an entire metering estate over the air, without a single field visit.

Questions we get asked.

What happens when our carrier contract ends in ten years?

SGP.32 eSIM profiles are switched over the air. The estate moves to a new carrier without touching a single meter.

Will NB-IoT reach a meter in a basement?

NB-IoT is built for deep-indoor penetration and typically reaches locations LTE cannot. Coverage should still be validated per site type before rollout.

Can the network generation be retired under us?

2G and 3G sunsets are the usual risk. Specifying NB-IoT or LTE-M with a remotely switchable profile keeps the estate viable past any single generation.

How much data does a meter actually use?

Most interval-reporting meters use well under 1 MB a month, so tariffs are driven by device count rather than volume.

How do we manage millions of endpoints?

Bulk provisioning, grouping and the API let you operate by cohort rather than per subscriber, with alerting on the exceptions.
